About FCSA

Since 2008, Freelancer & Contractor Services Association (FCSA), a not-for-profit organisation, has supported and represented the professional employment services sector. Since its inception, FCSA has been the UK's leading membership body for umbrella employers, contractor accountants and CIS payroll services providers with over 60 Member firms who support nearly a quarter of a million contractors.

Recognised as the industry's benchmark for compliance, FCSA Accreditation is awarded to service providers that have been independently assessed by top experts to confirm that they adhere to the rigorous Codes of Compliance.

FCSA operates best practice Codes of Compliance designed to ensure that its Accredited Members provide services, advice and employment to the highest level of professional and ethical standards in the UK. New applicants for Accredited Membership and renewing members are required to demonstrate on a continual basis how they adhere to FCSA's Codes of Compliance, to provide the necessary supporting evidence as well as providing additional information when required.

FCSA's purpose is to safeguard the long-term future of the professional freelance sector for the benefit of the UK economy. FCSA's primary role is to raise standards across the industry and promote the compliance of its Members through Accreditation, which is regarded as the industry's compliance gold standard, supporting contractors to meet their tax and legal obligations.

We work to protect the rights of freelancers and contractors and to promote fair and equitable practices in the workplace.

Freelancer & Contractor Services Association (FCSA) is the UK's leading membership association for service providers to freelancers and contractors. FCSA promotes best practice, raises standards, and provides resources and support to help their Members and the wider sector succeed.

FCSA has over 60 Members, including umbrella companies, limited company advisors, and self-employed/CIS contractor providers. Members are committed to providing high-quality services to their clients, and we work with them to ensure that they are compliant with all relevant regulations.

We offer a comprehensive range of resources to our members, including:

  • Webinars and training courses on a variety of topics, such as tax, employment law, and compliance
  • Articles and guidance on best practices
  • A whistleblowing hotline for contractors to report concerns about non-compliance
  • Networking opportunities with other service providers
  • Accredited membership, which provides a seal of approval for members who meet our high standards
We are also active in lobbying on behalf of the temporary labour sector. We work with policymakers to ensure that the needs of the freelance and contractor sector are represented, believing that everyone should have the opportunity to succeed in the workplace, regardless of their employment status.
